MATSAPHA – Matsapha Town Council CEO Sizwe Dlamini has called on residents, businesses and people working in the town to spread the word about the Matsapha Wellness Day Race as organisers seek to raise funds for Cheshire Home.
Speaking during the official launch of the race on Tuesday, Dlamini said the success of the initiative would depend not only on those taking part in the race, but also on the wider community helping to create awareness around its purpose.
He encouraged people on the ground to talk about the race and bring others on board, with the aim of increasing participation and, ultimately, the funds raised for Cheshire Home. The appeal comes as businesses and stakeholders in Matsapha rally behind the wellness initiative, which combines physical activity with a community fundraising effort.
For Dlamini, spreading the message is an important part of ensuring that the race reaches more people and generates meaningful support for the beneficiaries. The Matsapha Wellness Day Race is being organised in partnership with Athletics Eswatini and the Matsapha Wellness Day Race Organising Committee, with the initiative also promoting health, wellness and an active lifestyle.

The fundraising component gives the race a broader community purpose, linking participation in sport and wellness with support for Cheshire Home. Dlamini’s call places emphasis on collective involvement, encouraging those who may not necessarily be participating as runners to still contribute by helping create awareness and encouraging others to take part.
With businesses and community members being urged to get behind the initiative, the race is expected to bring together people from across Matsapha around both wellness and a shared fundraising cause.
