MANZINI – After spending their days shaping young minds, teachers will have an opportunity to trade classroom routines for a night of music and celebration when the Swaziland National Association of Teachers (SNAT) hosts its 2026 Teachers’ Day Bash at the Mavuso Exhibition Centre on Friday, October 23.
Running from 6pm until 6am, the event will bring together educators and music lovers for an entertainment programme featuring a mix of local performers and regional acts, extending the annual recognition of teachers into one of Eswatini’s major gatherings on the entertainment calendar.
South African acts Young Stunna, Shenge and Cardinal X25 are among the names on the line-up, alongside Swazi Soul artists Bholoja . They will share the stage with Eswatini artists including Lady Sphesh, Young Zesh, Sibu Manzini, DJ Cup, Gifted Kosie, Sphiwo Ndoni, Sanchezzy, Smish the Bishop, Stella Jacobs, DJ MBO, Zulu D, DJ Lolo, Cy Ndukwemnyama, Crash Master and Sweet Shandis. The line-up brings together different sounds and performers, giving attendees an opportunity to enjoy local music while experiencing artists from across the border.
Teachers’ Day, however, carries a significance beyond the entertainment. World Teachers’ Day is observed internationally on October 5 and recognises the contribution educators make to society, while also drawing attention to their professional status and working conditions. The observance was established in 1994 and commemorates the 1966 UNESCO and International Labour Organization recommendation on teachers’ rights and responsibilities.
In Eswatini, SNAT’s annual celebration has grown into a major gathering for the teaching fraternity. More than 10 000 teachers attended the 2025 celebration, illustrating the scale of the occasion and its appeal beyond a conventional professional commemoration. This year’s event follows the national Teachers’ Day commemoration earlier in October, bringing another opportunity for educators to come together outside their professional duties.
As the countdown to October 23 continues, the bash promises a long night of music for teachers and other attendees, while keeping the people behind the country’s classrooms at the centre of the celebration.
