MBABANE – MTN Bushfire magic sparks Abao’s new global hit!
International music sensation Abao has turned her unforgettable experience at this year’s MTN Bushfire Festival into a song that celebrates the spirit of Eswatini. The Taiwanese singer and her group have just released a vibrant new single titled “Born to Be” — a soulful anthem inspired by their time at the 18th edition of the festival.
Performing on the festival’s Main Stage on May 31, Abao (real name Aljenljeng Tjaluvie) delivered an electrifying set that left the crowd in awe. Fusing elements of rock, pop, and traditional Indigenous Taiwanese sounds, her music resonated with the diverse audience that Bushfire is known to attract.
But it wasn’t just a performance — it was a creative awakening. Abao revealed that the atmosphere, culture, and energy of Eswatini moved her deeply, leading her to write and record “Born to Be.” The track is paired with a stunning visual video shot across various iconic locations in Eswatini, including scenes from the Bushfire Festival grounds.
“The song reflects the connections I made in Eswatini — the energy, the nature, the people. It was an emotional and creative experience,” said Abao.
The visuals capture everything from Eswatini’s lush landscapes and wildlife to the vibrant faces of festivalgoers soaking in the music and magic of the weekend. The video acts as both a love letter to Eswatini and a musical documentation of the global unity that MTN Bushfire promotes.
