MANZINI – A nationwide talent search and training programme is set to reshape the gospel music landscape as the Association of Christian Artists of Eswatini (ACAESWA) unveiled the initiative during its Annual General Meeting held at Caritas.
The announcement, made by President Dr Mzwakhe Myeni, reflects a strategic move to take opportunities directly to the grassroots while strengthening the industry from within. The programme will see the association travelling on weekends to scout for talent in different constituencies.
Selected artists will not only gain exposure but will also benefit from recording deals and structured mentorship designed to develop them into professional performers.
“We will do talent search across all communities so that each constituency produces an artist who will be given a recording deal,” Myeni said, highlighting the vision of inclusive growth.
Beyond identifying talent, the programme places strong emphasis on development. Workshops will be conducted to equip artists with essential industry skills, including stage performance, discipline and preparation.
“We will also conduct workshops on what it takes to be an artist and the skills needed to perform professionally,” he said.
Myeni stressed that many artists possess talent but lack the discipline and consistency required to succeed. He urged performers to take their craft seriously, focusing on rehearsal, presentation and professionalism to meet industry standards.
The initiative also calls for a revival of strong identity in gospel music. Artists are encouraged to maintain a clear image and prepare thoroughly before releasing their work, drawing inspiration from past groups that upheld high standards.
In addition, performers have been challenged to embrace originality by creating their own music rather than relying on commonly known church songs. This, Myeni noted, will help build a more vibrant and competitive gospel music scene.
Through this programme, ACAESWA aims to close existing gaps in the industry while creating a pathway for artists to gain recognition both locally and beyond.
