MADLANGEMPHISI INKHUNDLA – Love is often spoken about, but for many elderly residents of Madlangemphisi Inkhundla, it has taken the shape of walls, windows, doors and a roof over their heads.
As Deputy Prime Minister Thulisile Dladla toured housing beneficiaries across the Inkhundla this week, one theme emerged repeatedly from the voices of the elderly, gratitude for what they described as the love and care shown to them through His Majesty King Mswati III’s housing initiative.
For beneficiaries such as Vusi Dlamini, the new home represents far more than a physical structure. Having once lived without a place to call his own, he now enjoys the security and dignity of a permanent home. With emotion in his voice, he thanked His Majesty, Government and God, saying he could never find enough words to express his appreciation.
At another homestead, elderly beneficiary Sikhandzephi Sifundza reflected on how the house had changed her life. Her gratitude echoed that of many senior citizens who feel remembered, valued and cared for.
Across Madlangemphisi, similar stories continue to unfold. Elderly residents who once faced uncertainty now have renewed hope for the future. Some beneficiaries have already moved into completed homes, while others eagerly watch construction progress on houses that will soon become their own.
The project, which is being implemented through the support of the Government, the Eswatini National Disaster Management Agency (NDMA) and the Umbutfo Eswatini Defence Force (UEDF), has already delivered 18 houses in the Inkhundla. Two additional homes are expected to begin construction soon after land was allocated by Chief Mdvuba Magagula following earlier land-related challenges.
Speaking during the tour, Deputy Prime Minister Dladla praised His Majesty’s commitment to improving the lives of elderly citizens. She said the purpose of her visit was to assess the progress of the housing programme and witness firsthand the difference it is making in people’s lives.
Beyond the bricks and cement, the initiative is touching hearts. For many of the elderly beneficiaries, the houses stand as a visible expression of Agape love selfless care demonstrated through actions that restore dignity, provide comfort and offer protection to society’s senior citizens.
As the Deputy Prime Minister moved from one home to another, the smiles, prayers and words of thanksgiving from beneficiaries painted a clear picture of a community deeply appreciative of a gesture that has transformed lives.
In Madlangemphisi, the houses are more than buildings. They are a reminder to the elderly that they are not forgotten, but cherished members of the nation whose wellbeing matters.
