WINDHOEK, NAMIBIA – A new chapter of inspired leadership and regional cooperation unfolded on 7 July 2025 as the ANOCA Zone VI Board convened a strategic orientation session at the Namibia National Olympic Committee (NNOC) offices. The session, held alongside the vibrant AUSC Region 5 U20 Youth Games, was a testament to the zone’s dedication to youth development and sporting excellence.
This strategic gathering served as a launchpad for renewed collaboration and purpose among the 10 member countries of ANOCA Zone VI. With the energy of young athletes competing nearby, the atmosphere was charged with optimism and unity.
Former ANOCA Zone VI President, Mr. Alfred Foloko, graced the event, offering wisdom and insights from his distinguished service in African sports administration. His reflections emphasized the enduring value of strong governance, athlete-focused development, and regional solidarity. His presence ensured a smooth and dignified transition between leadership teams, rooted in mutual respect and shared vision.
Hosted by the NNOC, the orientation gave the new board an opportunity to set clear goals, define operational priorities, and initiate strategic structures for long-term impact. Among the session’s major achievements was the launch of ANOCA Zone VI Commissions—dedicated working groups led by board members and soon to include experts from member National Olympic Committees (NOCs). These commissions are expected to strengthen the region’s capacity to implement focused, high-impact sporting initiatives.
Reflecting on the milestone, ANOCA Zone VI Secretary General Mr. Maxwell Jele shared his enthusiasm:
“The meeting was a great success, with full participation from all board members. It aligned perfectly with the Region 5 Youth Games and included engagements such as the Inter-Ministerial Forum on 6 July. Establishing the commissions marks a key step forward in enhancing our effectiveness as a regional body.”
As the Youth Games continue to shine a spotlight on young talent, the ANOCA Zone VI Board moves forward with unity, purpose, and renewed commitment. With values of excellence, friendship, and respect at its core, the board stands ready to empower the next generation through sport and uphold the Olympic spirit across the region.
