MANZINI– The Eswatini Electricity Company (EEC) on Wednesday, 9 July 2025, held a Customer Breakfast Meeting in Manzini, bringing together major commercial and institutional clients to foster dialogue and build stronger working relationships.
Representatives from organisations such as Shoprite, Swaziland Milling, RFM Hospital, Eswatini Beverages, Montigny, UNESWA, ESWACAA, and the Swaziland National Provident Fund were in attendance.
Opening the session, EEC’s Key Accounts Manager, Makhosazana Mzileni, encouraged clients to engage openly with the company and share feedback on their experiences. “This is a safe space to engage, and your input matters. We are listening and committed to action,” she said.
The meeting was part of EEC’s wider Customer Partnership Strategy, aimed at improving communication with key stakeholders and creating a platform for collaboration on energy solutions.

During the session, EEC Managing Director Ernest Mkhonta explained the thinking behind the ongoing Power Shift Eswatini Winter Campaign. He said the campaign seeks to manage the pressure on the national grid during peak usage hours, while highlighting EEC’s efforts to shield customers from rising electricity costs.
He pointed out that despite increased demand and high import costs, EEC continues to subsidise power to protect consumers from the full burden. He stressed the need for strong cooperation between EEC and its customers, stating that the two are mutually dependent for success.
Mkhonta also outlined EEC’s ongoing efforts to reduce reliance on imported electricity by improving local generation capacity. He further shared details of a major project underway a partnership with Kenya’s KenGen to develop a geothermal power station.
The Initiative is expected to deliver between 40 and 80 megawatts of consistent, renewable energy and is currently at the drilling stage.
The breakfast meeting served as more than just a networking event, it was a chance for EEC to reaffirm its promise of delivering reliable, transparent, and forward-looking energy services to support Eswatini’s economic growth.
