MBABANE – Art Rise Africa is fast becoming a catalyst for youth empowerment in Eswatini, using the power of art and culture to inspire creativity, confidence, and cultural pride among the nation’s young people.
Guided by its mission to “empower Eswatini youth through arts and culture, fostering creativity, self-expression, and cultural pride,” the organisation envisions a vibrant society where young people embrace their artistic potential to drive social transformation and celebrate their heritage.
Through a series of impactful initiatives—including art workshops, mentorship programmes, cultural festivals, and digital arts training—Art Rise Africa is creating opportunities for young people, particularly those from underserved communities, to develop artistic skills and turn their creativity into sustainable livelihoods.
The organisation focuses on youth aged 15 to 35, especially school leavers and unemployed young people. By engaging them in art and cultural expression, Art Rise Africa aims to reduce unemployment, boost confidence, and encourage constructive participation in community life.

According to Sindiswa Masuku, Field Officer at Art Rise Africa, creativity is a powerful tool for building resilient and self-assured youth.
“Our goal is to see Eswatini youth use art as a tool for transformation, both personally and socially,” said Masuku. “When young people engage in creative work, they not only gain practical skills but also confidence and a stronger sense of identity.”
Masuku further noted that the organisation sees art as a meaningful way to address issues such as youth idleness and social isolation.
“We believe art can change lives,” she explained. “By nurturing talent and promoting cultural pride, we are shaping a generation that values its roots while striving for a brighter, more inclusive future.”

From hosting hands-on art workshops led by local artists to providing mentorship opportunities with industry professionals, Art Rise Africa continues to demonstrate that art is not just a form of entertainment—it is a vital instrument for empowerment, self-discovery, and national pride.
The organisation’s growing influence underscores the transformative potential of the creative sector in Eswatini. By giving young people the tools to express themselves and connect with their cultural heritage, Art Rise Africa is helping to shape a more inspired and confident generation—one brushstroke, melody, and performance at a time.
