MBABANE – The Athletics Eswatini (AE) will celebrate women by hosting the ‘Women’s Challenge’ that will comprise of a 10km and 5km runs on September 14, 2024.
The event is set for Lobamba with registration already opened at E50 per individual. Both races will start at 6:30am. Registration can be done at the Eswatini Olympic and Commonwealth Games Association (EOCGA) offices in Lobamba and the at the Eswatini Sport and Recreation Council (ESRC) office in Mbabane.
“We are thrilled to announce the AE Women’s Challenge Run. Prepare to join us for an inspiring and empowering event dedicated to celebrating women,” reads the statement from Athletics Eswatini.
Athletics Eswatini also uses this even to collect sanitary pads that are donated to the young girls around the country who are in need.
Last year, the event was held on September 23 in Lobamba where it attracted over 100 women runners.
The event was announced while runners are also preparing for the KwaMagogo Golden Foot Number 43 race to be held on August 10, 2024 at the Trelawney Park, Manzini with registration closes on August 2, 2024. The KwaMagogo run will feature a 21km and 10km.
Runners are also preparing for the big road race in the country, the Imbube Marathon set for October 6, 2024, starting and finishing at Somhlolo National Stadium, Lobamba where runners will compete in four events being the 42.2km, 21.2km, 10km and 3km.
