MANZINI– Who said a campfire weekend has to mean sitting around the fire from morning to night?
At the upcoming Mlawula Campfire Festival, the fun is expected to begin long before the evening stories and campfire sessions, with Bakkie Life bringing a line-up of outdoor activities designed to get festivalgoers moving.
Bakkie Life brand ambassador Greg Dlamini has shared some of the activities planned for the festival, which will combine adventure, driving, camping skills and friendly competition.
The Bakkie Challenge will give participants a chance to test their driving skills, while the nature trail drive will take outdoor lovers through Mlawula’s surroundings from the comfort of their Bakkies. For campers, there will be a camping masterclass, focusing on the practical side of enjoying the outdoors, including setting up and organising camping equipment.
Then comes the competitive side of the weekend. The Fire Ranger competitions will give participants an opportunity to compete for prizes and recognition, while the target school will test accuracy as part of the Bakkie Life activities. “These are some of the activities that will be present, and there is more in store,” Dlamini said.
With that mix, the festival is shaping up to be more than a weekend of camping. Visitors can expect a combination of outdoor exploration, challenges and social entertainment, with plenty of opportunities to get involved rather than simply watch from the sidelines.
The Mlawula Campfire Festival takes place from 25–27 September at Mlawula Nature Reserve, bringing together nature, camping, adventure and entertainment. And while the campfire remains at the heart of the festival, Bakkie Life is making sure there is plenty of action to keep festivalgoers busy before the sun goes down.
