MBABANE – For one afternoon, the weight of police uniforms gave way to the thrill of competition as officers from across Eswatini stepped onto the playing fields, proving that behind every badge is a champion driven by teamwork, determination and pride.
The 2026 National Commissioner’s Cup resumed on Tuesday at the Matsapha Police Academy after a short break for the Royal Eswatini Police Service (REPS) Police Day celebrations, reigniting one of the Service’s most anticipated sporting events.
The atmosphere was electric as football, netball and volleyball teams battled for victory while colleagues cheered from the sidelines, creating a colourful display of unity, sportsmanship and healthy competition. Laughter replaced the usual demands of policing, while every pass, save and point reminded spectators that the men and women who protect the nation also share a passion for sport.
The tournament was attended by National Commissioner of Police Manoma Vusie Masango, members of the REPS Executive Command and officers representing police stations from across the country, underlining the Service’s commitment to promoting wellness and strengthening relationships among its members.
Although trophies are up for grabs, the National Commissioner’s Cup is about much more than lifting silverware. The annual competition provides officers with an opportunity to build friendships beyond their duty stations, strengthen teamwork and improve their physical and mental well being through sport.
For many participants, the tournament is a welcome break from the demanding nature of police work.
