ESWATINI SET FOR A FORTNIGHT OF MUSIC, THEATRE, CULTURE AND BUSINESS

MBABANE — From late-night Amapiano sessions and outdoor camping to international theatre, lifestyle festivals and a high-profile book launch, Eswatini is heading into two weeks packed with entertainment as September closes and October takes centre stage.

The entertainment calendar from September 24 to October 3 will see local and international creatives converge at venues across the Kingdom, giving audiences a wide choice of music, theatre, lifestyle and cultural experiences.

The action begins on September 24 with the Pyjama Party at Mdzimba View Shisanyama, where South African act Da Mabusa is billed as the headliner for the ladies’ night themed ‘Hot PJs’. The event will also give one best-dressed attendee a chance to win tickets to Mawhoo’s upcoming show.

The following day, September 25, Mdzimba View will once again be at the centre of the entertainment action when 2FIVE10 takes over the venue.

South African stars Vusi Nova, Ndu Browns and Sobzeen are set to headline the showcase alongside local acts. Vusi Nova has already confirmed his appearance, telling fans he plans to celebrate his birthday with them, with his birthday falling on September 24.

The same weekend will see entertainment move into the wild as the Mlawula Campfire Festival returns to Mlawula Nature Reserve from September 25 to 27.

Now in its seventh edition, the festival is designed around camping, live music, comedy, hiking, game viewing, team-building activities, cultural performances and family entertainment. South African singer Boohle is among the headline names, while comedian Matewu Bozza is also part of the programme.

Ezulwini will also be buzzing from September 24 to 26 as Swazi Boy Entertainment celebrates 20 years in the industry at Happy Valley Hotel.

The milestone celebration will feature South African stars DJ Zinhle, Young Stunna,Vinny Da Vinci, Dj Fresh&The Band,M’du Masilela,Greg Maloka,DJ Christos,Sabz with the programme combining music, nightlife and fashion. DJ Zinhle’s Era fashion pop-up is also part of the anniversary activities.

As September gives way to October, the entertainment momentum will not slow down.

On October 1–3, Mbabane will host the inaugural October International Theatre Festival at the Eswatini Theatre Club. The festival brings together theatre productions, performers and creatives from Eswatini and across the region.

The programme includes 10 theatre productions and 15 masterclasses, with performances scheduled throughout each day. Organisers are also targeting more than 750 young people through the festival’s training and creative-development programme.

The international line-up includes performers and productions connected to South Africa, Zimbabwe, Zambia and Botswana, placing Eswatini at the centre of a regional exchange of theatre, storytelling and creative skills.

For theatre lovers and aspiring creatives, the festival offers more than entertainment. Its masterclasses are designed to give artists, writers and other creatives access to professional knowledge and practical industry skills.

On October 2, Mdzimba View returns to the calendar with The RichMonalisa Live Eswatini, headlined by South African Amapiano vocalist Mawhoo.

The show will run from 4pm until 3am, with Mawhoo sharing the stage with local acts including Zulu D, Young Zesh, Sgitha, Gifted Kosie and others.

October 2 and 3 will also bring a different kind of gathering to TLC Events Centre in Sidvokodvo through the second edition of the LaunchPad Business Conference.

South African media personality and entrepreneur DJ Sbu, real name Sbusiso Leope, is among the speakers, with the conference bringing together entrepreneurs, business leaders and aspiring business owners under the theme ‘Faith & Business’.

Then on October 3, Sharma House in Ezulwini will become the setting for Gin Gardens, a lifestyle experience combining music, food, beverages and social entertainment.

South African acts Sino Msolo, Nia Pearl, Dusse Wavy and TouchLine are confirmed alongside local performers. Organisers expect more than 1,500 guests for the daytime experience.

For book lovers, October 3 will also bring South African author and storyteller Nozibele Qamngana-Mayaba to Metropolitan Evangelical Church in Fairview, Manzini, for the Eswatini launch of her book, ‘Let Me Tell You Something’.

The launch is scheduled for 1pm and is set to combine literature, conversation, reflection and gospel music.

With major events spread across Mbabane, Ezulwini, Mlawula, Sidvokodvo and Manzini, the next two weeks show just how broad Eswatini’s entertainment landscape has become.

From Amapiano and Afro-soul to camping, fashion, theatre, business and literature, audiences are not being offered one type of entertainment — they are being given an entire calendar to choose from.

And with artists crossing borders from South Africa, Zimbabwe, Zambia and Botswana, the period also highlights Eswatini’s growing role as a meeting point for regional entertainment and creative exchange.

For fans, creatives, event organisers, businesses and visitors, the message is simple: September is going out loudly, and October is arriving with an equally busy stage.
