MBABANE – Athletics Eswatini (AE) President Zakhele Dlamini has once again been entrusted with a key continental governance assignment, reinforcing his growing influence in African athletics.
Dlamini, who also serves as President of the Southern African Confederation of Athletics (SACA), was recently deployed to Mozambique by the Confederation of African Athletics (CAA) and World Athletics to help address governance and leadership matters within the Athletics Federation of Mozambique.
The assignment came shortly after he completed a similar governance mission in South Africa, highlighting the confidence continental and global athletics bodies continue to place in his leadership.
During his visit to Mozambique, Dlamini held high-level engagements with the country’s Minister of Youth and Sports, Honourable Caifadine Manasse, as well as National Director of Sports Helder Josias. The meetings formed part of broader stakeholder consultations aimed at strengthening governance structures and leadership within the national athletics federation.
The latest mission underscores Dlamini’s expanding role beyond Eswatini, where he has become one of the region’s leading voices on athletics administration and governance.
His appointment by CAA and World Athletics is viewed as recognition of his experience in sports administration and his commitment to promoting transparency, accountability and effective leadership within athletics federations across Southern Africa.
As SACA president, Dlamini is responsible for supporting the development of athletics among member federations in the region while ensuring that governance standards are upheld in line with continental and international expectations.
His continued involvement in resolving governance matters reflects the trust that CAA, World Athletics and member federations have in his ability to facilitate dialogue and provide leadership on complex administrative issues.
The latest assignment also raises the profile of Eswatini within African athletics, with one of its sports administrators playing an increasingly prominent role in shaping governance and institutional development across the continent.
Dlamini’s work in Mozambique forms part of ongoing efforts by African athletics authorities to strengthen governance, improve institutional stability and ensure member federations operate in accordance with the principles and regulations set out by CAA and World Athletics.
With successive governance assignments in both South Africa and Mozambique, Dlamini continues to cement his reputation as one of Southern Africa’s trusted athletics administrators, while enhancing Eswatini’s standing within the continental sporting landscape.
