MBABANE – The Royal Eswatini Police Service (REPS) has launched a thorough investigation into a murder case reported in the Mabhidzi area near Pigg’s Peak, while appealing to members of the public to assist with information that could lead to the arrest of the suspects.

The deceased, believed to be a man aged about 35 from Siphofaneni, was discovered in his makeshift shelter on Friday morning, 12 December 2025. Police were alerted promptly after a friend made the distressing discovery and reported the matter through the appropriate channels. Officers responded swiftly and secured the scene to begin investigations.

Preliminary findings indicate that the victim was assaulted, with his hands tied using shoelaces. Certain personal belongings, including his mobile phone and clothing, were reported missing. Police further established that items believed to be linked to illegal activity were also stolen from a separate structure associated with the deceased.

REPS has emphasised that investigations are progressing and that all possible leads are being followed. Officers have also extended their inquiries to nearby communities as part of a coordinated effort to bring the perpetrators to justice.

Police spokespersons have used the opportunity to reaffirm the Service’s commitment to protecting communities and dismantling violent crime networks. They stressed that public cooperation remains one of the most powerful tools in solving serious crimes.

“The safety of our communities is a shared responsibility,” REPS said in a statement. “We encourage anyone who may have seen, heard, or knows anything related to this incident to come forward. Even the smallest detail can make a significant difference.”

Members of the public are assured that any information provided will be treated with the strictest confidentiality, and anonymity is guaranteed.

The case underscores the importance of community vigilance and partnership with law enforcement, as Eswatini continues to strengthen its resolve against violent crime. REPS has reiterated its message under the national policing mantra Sikhona – reaffirming that police are present, active, and committed to justice. Investigations are ongoing.
