MALKERNS– The Earth Hour commemoration held at Malandela’s in Malkerns advanced sustainability efforts by bringing together stakeholders, sponsors, influential figures, and members of the public to promote environmental responsibility and energy-efficient practices during the global switch-off from 8:30pm to 9:30pm under the theme “Join the Biggest Hour for Earth.”
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Standard Bank Eswatini, Mvuselelo Fakudze, called on the public to embrace sustainable living and energy-efficient choices, emphasising that Earth Hour is more than a symbolic one-hour switch-off but a call for long-term environmental action.
He highlighted the importance of protecting natural resources such as water and energy to secure a better future for generations to come.
“As a bank, we are investing in a sustainable future by supporting green energy solutions and encouraging everyone to embrace energy-efficient choices in their homes and businesses,” he said.
Fakudze noted that collective responsibility is key to achieving meaningful climate action and building a cleaner environment.
He further encouraged individuals, businesses, and institutions to make their actions count beyond Earth Hour by supporting initiatives that reduce carbon footprints and promote sustainability.
Fakudze emphasised that working together can help power a brighter and cleaner future for Eswatini.
The Earth Hour commemoration created awareness about climate change while inspiring participants to switch off non-essential lights and adopt environmentally friendly practices.
The event demonstrated Eswatini’s growing commitment to sustainability and green energy, with stakeholders showing strong support for initiatives that protect the environment and promote responsible energy use.
