MBABANE – The Eswatini Football Association (EFA) and the entire football community are mourning the sudden passing of former Sihlangu player, Sibonginkhosi ‘Gudas’ Dlamini.
Dlamini passed away on Monday, February 3, 2025, due to an undisclosed illness. EFA expressed its condolences through a statement issued by Marketing and Communications Officer, Muzi Radebe.
Dlamini had an illustrious career, playing for top clubs including Mbabane Highlanders, Mbabane Swallows, Denver Sundowns F.C., Ezulwini United, Vovovo, Pigg’s Peak Black Swallows, Manzini Wanderers, Ludzeludze Killers, and most recently, Sidvwashini United.
“At this point, EFA would like to extend its deepest condolences to his family, relatives, the football fraternity, friends, and all affected establishments. Sibonginkhosi was a talented footballer with a bright future, and his passing is a great loss to the sport,” read the statement.
EFA emphasized that Dlamini’s dedication and passion for football left a lasting impact on the game in Eswatini. Quoting the Bible verse Isaiah 41:10, EFA shared words of comfort: “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed; for I am your God.”
The association expressed solidarity with all those grieving and prayed for strength and comfort during this difficult time.
Dlamini will be laid to rest on Sunday at his home in Ludzeludze. May his soul rest in peace.
