MBABANE– Government’s efforts to equip young people with information on career opportunities received a boost on Friday as the Eswatini Football Association (EFA) joined the Ministry of Labour and Social Security’s National Career Fair at the Prince of Wales Sports Ground.
The national exhibition brought together government ministries, educational institutions, private sector organisations and development partners to expose learners from across the country to a wide range of career opportunities and help them make informed decisions about their future.
Supporting government’s human capital development agenda, the EFA used the platform to demonstrate that football has evolved into a dynamic industry offering diverse career opportunities beyond playing the game.
Learners who visited the Association’s exhibition stand were introduced to professions including coaching, refereeing, sports administration, marketing and communications, media, sports medicine, information technology, finance, event management, safety and security, safeguarding, talent identification and facility management.
The Association also showcased its football development programmes, including grassroots football, talent development, coach education, referee development, women’s football and digital transformation initiatives, all aimed at creating pathways for young people to participate in the sport both on and off the field.
The EFA said its participation complemented government’s efforts to prepare young people for the world of work by encouraging them to consider football as a viable industry capable of creating employment, entrepreneurship and lifelong career opportunities.
The exhibition further highlighted football’s growing contribution to Eswatini’s socio-economic development, with the industry generating employment in sectors such as sports administration, tourism, hospitality, media, event management, sports technology and merchandising.
By exposing learners to these opportunities, the Association reinforced government’s drive to develop a skilled workforce that can contribute to national productivity, innovation and sustainable economic growth.
The event also strengthened collaboration between government, educational institutions and development partners in promoting career guidance and youth empowerment, while providing learners with direct access to professionals working in various industries.
The EFA reaffirmed that football remains a powerful vehicle for education, leadership, discipline, teamwork and inclusion, while creating meaningful opportunities for employment and enterprise.
Its participation in the National Career Fair reflected a shared commitment with government and other stakeholders to empower young people, strengthen communities and ensure that the sports industry contributes meaningfully to the Kingdom of Eswatini’s long-term socio-economic development.
