MBABANE – His Majesty’s Correctional Services (HMCS) has sternly warned Emaswati on job scams that are currently going on, trying to take advantage of desperate jobs-seekers.
According to a statement released by HMCS Deputy Public Relations Officer (PRO) Baphelele Kunene, the scammers coerce unsuspecting members of the public to fork out certain amount of money in order to be guaranteed of the jobs they wanted within the HMCS. Kunene said no jobs were currently advertised at the Correctional Services department.
Kunene said HMCS has learnt with dismay of certain individuals who are falsely using the institution’s name to fraudulently source monetary gain from desperate Emaswati who have the will and zeal to be part of the Correctional Services.
Firstly, Kunene wished to state that there is no recruitment currently taking place within the Correctional Services. The Correctional Services does not require or accept money from job seekers for any of its positions or ranks and as a result, we wish to caution all members of the public, especially aspiring correctional officers on this recruitment scam.
“Members of the public are advised that should there be any intake or job opportunities, the department will announce through its official communication platforms or authorised local publications and electronic media. HMCS is committed to being an equal opportunity employer that values and adheres to the principles of fairness and equality,” Kunene said.
Therefore, he urged citizens to exercise caution against fraudulent job offers and further reiterated that the department did not use third party individuals or companies when undertaking the recruitment exercise.
Kunene advised members of the public to take the following steps to protect themselves:
- Verify all job announcements directly through our official telephone line +268 2404 02476/7/8 or our Facebook page (His Majesty’s Correctional Services).
- Do not share personal or financial information with unverified sources.
