MBABANE – The Royal Eswatini Police Service (REPS) has issued a strong yet caring reminder to the public to act responsibly on the roads during the festive season, warning that those who choose to drink and drive may face the consequences from Monday next week.
The police emphasised that festive celebrations should not turn into moments of regret, injury, or loss of life. Members of the public were urged to exercise responsibility, whether driving or walking, as road safety remains a shared responsibility. According to REPS, motorists who drive under the influence risk facing legal action, as law enforcement officers continue to monitor road usage closely during the holiday period.
“INKANTOLO ITAKUBONA MONDAY,” the police cautioned, emphasising that offenders will not evade accountability. The message serves as a reminder that road safety laws remain in force throughout the festive season, and irresponsible behaviour will be addressed accordingly.
The police further appealed to road users to respect traffic regulations, avoid reckless driving, and show consideration to fellow motorists and pedestrians. They noted that responsible behaviour significantly reduces road accidents, injuries, and loss of life.
In addition to the road safety message, the Royal Eswatini Police Service extended warm festive greetings to all citizens. The Office of the National Commissioner of Police expressed heartfelt appreciation to officers who continue to serve during the holidays, often sacrificing time with their families to ensure the safety and security of others.
