MBABANE – Eswatini’s comedy scene is crossing borders, with local favourites Gogo, S’lwane, Slim Bee and Hembe preparing to light up South Africa with their much-anticipated live show, Lugodvo Kimi.
The comic quartet will take centre stage on 3 October 2025 at KaMhlushwa T-Vet College in Nkomazi, Mpumalanga. The show kicks off at 7pm and promises an evening packed with side-splitting humour, clever storytelling, and thought-provoking punchlines.
The hype surrounding Lugodvo Kimi began after a short skit by the same name went viral online, leaving fans clamouring for more. Responding to that demand, the comedians have transformed their digital hit into a fully-fledged live performance.
“The idea came from the overwhelming response to our Lugodvo Kimi video,” explained Gogo, the group’s standout character. “People have been urging us to bring it to the stage, and now we are finally doing it. It’s going to be fresh, funny, and unforgettable.”
But while laughter is at the heart of the production, the performers say the show carries a deeper purpose. Through comedy, they hope to address sensitive social issues in a way that entertains while encouraging reflection.
“Comedy is therapy,” Gogo emphasised. “We believe humour can help people relieve stress and even reduce depression. Our mission is to create an environment where the audience can laugh, forget their troubles, and leave feeling lighter and happier.”
The ensemble’s style has been described as both innovative and culturally resonant, blending traditional humour with modern satire. Their performances often mirror everyday life in Eswatini and across the region, creating relatable comedy that resonates with diverse audiences.
“We guarantee fun and a memorable experience,” added Gogo. “We have worked hard to craft a show that people will be talking about long after the curtain falls. We are looking forward to seeing everyone there.”
The Lugodvo Kimi live show marks another milestone for Eswatini’s fast-rising comedy industry, which is steadily gaining recognition beyond the kingdom’s borders. By venturing into South Africa, the group hopes to strengthen cultural exchange and showcase Eswatini’s growing creative talent.
