MBABANE – Senator Pholile Shakantu, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Kingdom of Eswatini met with, Ilan Fluss, Ambassador and Coordinator of the Emerging Disruptive Technologies (EDT) Division of Strategic Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the State of Israel.
According to information gathered by this publication, the meeting which took place on May 6, 2026, provided an opportunity to explore areas of bilateral cooperation in the realm of emerging and disruptive technologies.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister, Russell Mmiso Dlamini, yesterday reported on government official Facebook page that the country received Ambassador Nicolaus Marschik, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Austria, for a constructive engagement on Austria’s emerging Africa Strategy and opportunities for strengthened cooperation with Eswatini.

National Development
The PM said the engagement was both constructive and forward-looking. He said Eswatini was encouraged by Austria’s expressed willingness to partner with us in areas that matter deeply to our national development – social programmes, women’s empowerment, and the transfer of skills and technology. These, he said were not abstract priorities; they speak directly to the lived realities of Emaswati and the future the country is working to build.
“We emphasised that Eswatini’s contribution to such partnerships must be grounded in practical experience, particularly in ensuring that our natural resources deliver tangible benefits for emaSwati through local investment, value addition, and beneficiation.”
He said they also reflected on key priorities, including their drive towards energy self-sufficiency by 2028 through a diversified energy mix, and their efforts to strengthen food sovereignty by expanding storage capacity and supporting farmers to scale production.
Vocational Training Institutions
“On human capital development, we are advancing plans to establish industrial parks anchored by vocational training institutions. In this regard, we see strong potential for collaboration with Austria, including through regional initiatives.”
On behalf of Eswatini, he appreciated the Republic of Austria’s strong interest in partnering with the and said they looked forward to a collaboration anchored in mutual benefit and a shared commitment to national development.
