MBABANE– A top freelancer from Eswatini has been elected to lead the Southern African Freelancers Association.

Former Times of Eswatini News Editor Nathi Gule have been appointed as the Chairperson of the Southern African Freelancers’ Association (SAFREA). This was during the organisation’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) held virtually in June.

According to SAFREA’s website (safrea.co.sz), the new leadership team is poised to uphold SAFREA’s values and work diligently towards enhancing support for freelance professionals across the Southern African region.

Gule, a seasoned freelancer based in Eswatini, said his leadership approach was established on the principles of innovation, transparency, accountability, teamwork and good governance ethics.

The newly appointed Chairperson expressed his gratitude to the committee members for their active participation and commitment to SAFREA’S mission. In his remarks, Gule thanked the members of the organization for their dedication and willingness to contribute their expertise and services towards the SAFREA’s growth. He went on to thank the previous Executive Committee team for their contribution during their term of office.

Addressing SAFREA members directly, Gule added, “I extend my best wishes to all of you in your freelance careers. Thank you for entrusting this new team with the responsibility to strive for an improved SAFREA’s.” He concluded his statement with an inspirational quote from Helen Keller: “Optimism is the faith that leads to achievement. Nothing can be done without hope and confidence.”

A new Executive Committee and Oversight Committee were appointed to lead the organization into its next chapter of growth and development. The newly elected office-bearers of SAFREA are; Nathi Gule (Chairperson), Kay Johnstone (Vice-Chairperson) and Hush Naidoo (Treasurer). The portfolio leads are Mandi Smallhorne (SASJA Representative), Gudrun Kaiser (Professional Development), Safeeyah Kharsany (Communications), and Ntsiki Jacobs (Membership).

The Oversight Committee consists of: Adrian Galley (Convenor), Lynne Smit, Raymond Joseph and Whitemore Ngwira.
