MBABANE – House of Assembly Speaker Jabulani Mabuza has assured the visiting regional delegation that Eswatini is fully prepared to host the Southern African Development Community Organisation of Public Accounts Committees (SADCOPAC) Conference, following their assessment visit ahead of the September event.
During the tabling of reports in the House of Assembly on June 29, Speaker Jabulani Mabuza welcomed the visiting delegation, who observed parliamentary proceedings from the Public Gallery.
Speaker Mabuza informed Members of Parliament that the delegation comprises representatives from several SADC member states and is in the Kingdom to evaluate Eswatini’s readiness to host the regional conference in early September.
He said the visitors are working closely with the country’s technical team to inspect conference facilities and other logistical arrangements to ensure Eswatini is fully prepared for the prestigious gathering.
The Speaker expressed confidence that the Kingdom would successfully host the event, reminding MPs that Parliament had already announced during the national budget discussions that Eswatini would host this year’s SADCOPAC conference.
He added that the timing of the conference was strategically chosen to allow delegates from across the region to also experience Eswatini’s rich cultural heritage, particularly the world-renowned Umhlanga Ceremony.
The delegation includes representatives from countries such as South Africa, Lesotho and Tanzania.
Contributing to the welcoming remarks, Lobamba Lomdzala MP Marwick Khumalo warmly welcomed the delegation, saying they should feel at home while in the Kingdom.
The House also shared a light-hearted moment when Khumalo jokingly, on behalf of MP David Cruiser Ngcamphalala, asked whether all the visiting delegates were married, drawing laughter from Members of Parliament and the guests.
The visit marks an important milestone as Eswatini continues preparations to host one of the region’s key parliamentary governance gatherings, showcasing both its institutional capacity and cultural hospitality.
