MBABANE- The Eswatini Stock Exchange (ESE) has taken a significant step towards expanding the country’s investment opportunities after officially joining the African Exchanges Linkage Project (AELP) Phase 2, a continental initiative aimed at connecting African stock markets.
The project was officially launched on July 1, 2026 during the 13th Building African Financial Markets Forum held in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, by the African Securities Exchanges Association (ASEA) in partnership with the African Development Bank (AfDB).
Eswatini joins Botswana, Ghana and Uganda as the latest markets connected to the AELP network, increasing participation to 11 African stock exchanges and more than 50 stockbrokers across the continent.
The integration means investors and licensed stockbrokers in Eswatini will be able to access investment opportunities across participating African exchanges through a single interconnected trading network, a move expected to enhance cross-border investment and deepen regional capital market integration.
Representing Eswatini on the network are three licensed stockbrokers: 268 Securities Limited, African Alliance Eswatini Securities Limited and ALPHSZ Securities Limited.
According to ASEA, the expansion marks another major milestone in building a more integrated and vibrant African capital market by improving market connectivity and enabling easier access to investment opportunities across borders.
ASEA also acknowledged the support of the African Development Bank, participating stock exchanges, newly connected stockbrokers and strategic partners for their role in advancing the vision of a connected African capital market.
