MBABANE – The Kingdom of Eswatini continues to position itself as an attractive investment destination as the Eswatini Investment Promotion Authority (EIPA) hosted a Taiwan–Eswatini Business Seminar on April 22, 2026 at the Mountain View Hotel.
The session featured key presentations from EIPA, the Eswatini Electricity Company (EEC), and Business Eswatini, highlighting local market potential and infrastructure readiness. These inputs informed broader discussions that brought together Taiwanese investors, government leaders and local stakeholders for focused engagement on strengthening trade collaboration, attracting foreign direct investment and expanding market access between the two economies.
Discussions centered on identifying priority sectors for investment, including agriculture, manufacturing, technology, tourism, and agro-processing. Stakeholders also explored practical approaches to enhance value chains, support industrial growth, and improve bilateral market access.
Minister Ching-lin Tsui, Deputy Ambassador at the Embassy of the Republic of China (Taiwan) in Eswatini, said the partnership reflects long-term commitment to shared growth, stating that, “Taiwan remains fully committed to strengthening economic cooperation with Eswatini and unlocking opportunities that will lead to investment, skills transfer and sustainable development.”
Representing the Minister of Commerce, Industry and Trade, Principal Secretary Ambassador Melusi Masuku welcomed the delegation and underscored the importance of international cooperation. “This strategic partnership will significantly boost Eswatini’s economy and highlights the vital role of global collaboration in driving industrial growth and sustainable national development,” he said.
A key focus was the progress of the Taiwan Industrial and Innovation Park (TIIP), which is expected to facilitate Taiwanese investment and industrial expansion in Eswatini. Masuku noted that the initiative will help diversify the economy and attract new industries.
The Taiwanese High-Level Business Delegation included companies from textiles, biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, green energy, residential development and packaging materials. Delegation leader Ray Lin said, “Eswatini offers a stable and welcoming investment environment with strategic access to regional and global markets. We see strong potential for long-term partnerships that benefit both sides.”
EIPA also highlighted investment incentives and sector-specific opportunities aligned with Eswatini’s development priorities, particularly in agro-processing, manufacturing, tourism, and food packaging.
The engagement reflects growing confidence in Eswatini as an emerging investment hub, with strengthened dialogue between public and private sector actors laying a foundation for expanded trade relations, increased industrial participation, and sustainable economic development between Eswatini and Taiwan.
