MBABANE – Eswatini is set to host the African Inter-Parliamentary Conference on Family Values and Sovereignty next year, positioning the Kingdom as a platform for continental dialogue on family development, cultural identity and values-based policies.
The conference, which brings together parliamentarians, policymakers, community leaders and stakeholders from across Africa, is expected to provide an opportunity for discussions on strengthening families, promoting social cohesion and advancing policies that reflect African perspectives.
The announcement of Eswatini as a future host follows previous editions of the gathering held in Uganda and Ghana, where lawmakers and representatives from different sectors engaged on issues affecting families, communities and national development.
The hosting of the conference highlights Eswatini’s continued role in promoting dialogue on issues of cultural heritage, social development and the importance of family structures within African societies.
The Kingdom has long placed emphasis on preserving cultural traditions and values, with family and community support systems forming an important part of Eswatini’s social fabric.
The conference is expected to attract participants from across the continent who will share experiences, discuss challenges facing families and explore strategies aimed at strengthening communities.
Discussions at previous gatherings have focused on themes including family empowerment, parental responsibility, education, social protection and the role of traditional values in national development.
The upcoming event will provide Eswatini with an opportunity to showcase its culture and hospitality while contributing to continental conversations on policies that affect African families.
As host, Eswatini is expected to facilitate engagement among African leaders and stakeholders, creating a platform for the exchange of ideas and cooperation towards strengthening communities across the continent.
