MBABANE – Prime Minister (PM) Russell Mmiso Dlamini has departed Eswatini for the Republic of China (Taiwan), where he will represent His Majesty King Mswati III and the Kingdom at the Ketagalan Forum: 2026 Indo-Pacific Security Dialogue in Taipei.
The Prime Minister, according to a report carried by the Taipei Times, is expected to deliver a keynote address at the prestigious international forum, which brings together political leaders, policymakers, academics and security experts from across the world to discuss emerging global security challenges and cooperation.
The upcoming engagement places Eswatini among key international voices participating in discussions on democratic resilience, regional security, economic resilience and the future of cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region. Taiwan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that Prime Minister Dlamini and former United States Congressman Michael McCaul will serve as opening keynote speakers at the 10th edition of the forum.
The visit follows an invitation for Eswatini’s Head of Government to participate in the dialogue, which has become one of Taiwan’s major international platforms for strategic discussions.
During his stay in Taiwan, Prime Minister Dlamini will also hold bilateral engagements with President Lai Ching-te and other senior Taiwanese officials. The engagements are expected to further strengthen the longstanding relations between Eswatini and Taiwan.
The Prime Minister is also scheduled to visit several mega projects during the visit, providing an opportunity to gain insights into Taiwan’s development initiatives, innovation, infrastructure and economic transformation programmes.
The Taipei Times highlighted Prime Minister Dlamini’s participation, noting that he is among prominent international figures set to address the Indo-Pacific Security Dialogue. The forum will feature discussions involving leaders and experts from different regions, including Asia-Pacific, Europe, North America and Latin America.
The Ketagalan Forum, organised by Taiwan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Taiwan Institute of Economic Research, has established itself as an important platform for dialogue on international security and cooperation.
Prime Minister’s participation reflects Eswatini’s continued engagement on global platforms and its efforts to deepen diplomatic relations with international partners.
