EZULWINI – A major boost for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME’s) after receiving a funding of E768.3 million from the European Union (EU).
The EU Representative, Ask Gudmundsen, is of the view that MSMEs are engines of innovation and the driving force of inclusive growth. This is why the EU are putting words to action, currently investing over E768.3 million (40 million Euros) in skills development across the Kingdom of Eswatini, supporting both public institutions and the vibrant informal sector.
The EU representative announced this support for local businesses on 3 March 2026 at the Royal Villas during the reception of impact investors for Eswatini Investor Roadshow dinner.
“It is a true pleasure to be here, and it is a distinct privilege to welcome our international Visitors to the beautiful Kingdom of Eswatini
I want to begin by commending the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Trade, as well as the International Trade Centre. You have facilitated a truly strategic platform-one that connects ambition with opportunity, and vision with investment,” said the EU representative.
He said they knew that across the globe, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises are more than just businesses. They are the engines of innovation and the driving face of inciusive growth. They benefit their local communities, and as they grow, the prestige of their region and country grows with them.
They aim on creating an enabling environment where businesses can start, grow and compete locally, regionally and internationally.
“Our commitment is tangible. Whether it is supporting the Business One-Stop Shop or developing the National E-commerce Strategy we help building the modern Infrastructure that trade demands.
To our visiting investors: I hope to see you here often. I encourage you to look beyond today’s, and tomorrows schedule. Don’t just exchange business cards-bulld relationships. Look at the long-term value of investing in MSMEs that are deeply rooted in their communities and poised for growth.”

“To the MSMEs with us today: Stay bold. Stay innovative: The ideas you are nurtuning today are the seeds of tomorrows prosperity. Economic transformation does not happen overnight. It is built brick-by-brick through partnership, investment and trust,” he said.
The European Union, the EU said, remains steadtest in commitment to walk this journey alongside the Kingdom of Eswatini.
He added that this week will be remembered not just for the discussions held, but for the enduring partnerships formed together, they can fuel job creation, empower communities, and shape a sustainable future.
