MBABANE- Former Eswatini Principals Association (EPA) president and Ka-Boyce High School Headteacher, Welcome Mhlanga, reminded pupils of their hard-work philosophy as schools opened for the second term.

This was revealed by Mhlanga after Eswatini Positive News (EPN) team paid the school a visit on the first day of the second term for the 2026 academic year.

“We opened smoothly for the second term of the 2026 academic year on 5 May 2026. We are pleased to report that attendance has been excellent, with pupils, teachers, and support staff all present. Encouragingly, we have not encountered any challenges at the start of the term,” he said.

He said as they begun this important second term, he took time on the first day to remind pupils of the school’s theme for the year: “Renewal for Greatness.”

“This theme remains central to our journey, and we will continue to reinforce it throughout the term as we guide learners on what lies ahead. This term is particularly critical, as it largely determines how pupils will perform at the end of the academic year. With its relatively short duration, it demands greater focus, discipline, and commitment,” he said.

Mhlanga added that they were especially mindful of those classes preparing for external examinations, which were Form III and Form V, and said they will continue to encourage all learners to apply themselves even more diligently to their studies.

In emphasizing the idea of renewal, the headteacher drew inspiration from 1st Kings Chapter 19, reflecting on the story of Elijah—a strong and faithful servant who, at one point, felt weak and overwhelmed.

“The message to our pupils was clear: at times, we may all feel discouraged, vulnerable, or as though we have fallen short. However, it is through renewal—spiritually, mentally, and emotionally—that we regain strength and continue striving forward,” he said.

Mhlanga added that they also reminded themselves that while Ka-Boyce High School has built a reputation for producing good results, this should not lead to complacency or arrogance. Instead, it should inspire them to work even harder, remain humble, and stay committed to continuous improvement.
