MBABANE What began as a small poultry operation with just 7 500 chickens at the turn of the millennium has transformed into one of Eswatini’s leading agribusiness success stories, proving that local entrepreneurship, innovation and determination can fuel national development.

Aron’s Farms Produce, based in Edwaleni, has grown its production capacity to 60 000 chickens, earning recognition from the Government of Eswatini as a model of business excellence and sustainable growth. The milestone was celebrated during an official site visit by the Minister of Commerce, Industry and Trade, Hon. Manqoba Khumalo, who applauded the company’s remarkable journey and its growing contribution to the country’s economy.

The Minister described the farm as a shining example of how local businesses can drive industrialisation, create meaningful employment and strengthen Eswatini’s food security. He commended the company for continuously investing in modern technologies that improve productivity while maintaining high standards of biosecurity an increasingly important aspect of poultry production.

A major highlight of the visit was the company’s recent investment of approximately E15-16 million in a state of the art poultry facility. The expansion represents more than just new infrastructure; it is a strong vote of confidence in Eswatini’s agricultural sector and demonstrates the potential of locally owned businesses to compete, innovate and grow.

The modern facility is expected to improve operational efficiency, enhance disease prevention measures and increase the availability of locally produced poultry products. Such investments are also expected to reduce reliance on imports while supporting the country’s broader goals of achieving greater food self sufficiency.

Beyond its commercial achievements, Aron’s Farms Produce continues to make a meaningful difference in the lives of emaSwati. The company has created employment opportunities for local residents while actively supporting community development initiatives, including education, infrastructure improvement, sports development and other programmes that uplift surrounding communities.

The future looks even brighter for the thriving enterprise. Plans are already underway to double production capacity to 120 000 chickens, a move expected to generate more jobs, stimulate economic activity and strengthen Eswatini’s poultry value chain. The company also intends to champion sustainable farming practices while mentoring aspiring emaSwati farmers, helping to build a stronger and more resilient agricultural sector for future generations.

Minister Khumalo reaffirmed the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Trade’s commitment to fostering an enabling business environment that encourages investment, innovation and entrepreneurship. He noted that businesses such as Aron’s Farms Produce demonstrate the transformative role that local enterprises play in advancing Eswatini’s economic agenda.

As Aron’s Farms Produce continues its remarkable growth journey, it stands as an inspiring example of what can be achieved through vision, perseverance and strategic investment. From humble beginnings to becoming a key player in the country’s poultry industry, the company is helping shape a future where locally produced food, job creation and sustainable economic growth go hand in hand.
