BUHLENI– In the heart of Eswatini, a new wave of talent is shaping the country’s arts industry, proving that creativity and perseverance can unlock extraordinary opportunities.

Among those thriving in the industry is Londiwe Vilane, born and raised at Buhleni, Matfuntini. She has captured the spotlight as the main character in the 2025 South African drama film titled “Intandane”.

Vilane’s love for acting began in her school days, where she discovered her passion for performing in stage dramas. Those early performances planted a seed of confidence and creativity that would later blossom into a thriving career. Her talent was unmistakable. Over the years, she honed her craft through theatre productions, gaining invaluable experience and a deeper understanding of storytelling.

Her first big break came in December 2023, when she appeared in the television drama Isitha as Girly (KwaSokhulu shopkeeper). Although it was a supporting role, Vilane’s performance stood out, showcasing her natural talent and on-screen charisma.

In Intandane, Vilane plays Gcinile, a double orphan who arrives at her late father’s home, only to be met with rejection and hostility. Her new family, consumed by greed and waiting for her father’s inheritance, assumes Gcinile has come to take what is rightfully theirs. In reality, Gcinile is simply searching for a place to belong.

Vilane’s portrayal of Gcinile is both raw and heartfelt. She brings the character’s resilience, vulnerability, and pain to life with remarkable authenticity. Through Gcinile, Vilane sheds light on issues like rejection, abuse, and the strength it takes to rise above adversity. Her performance has resonated deeply with audiences.

While Intandane was a career-defining project for Vilane, it was not without its challenges. As a born-again Christian, Vilane found some scenes particularly challenging, as it went against her personal values and beliefs. “It was very difficult for me because of my faith,” she shares. “But I had to remind myself that this wasn’t about Londiwe,it was about Gcinile, the character I was portraying. I was telling an important story.”

By separating herself from the role, Vilane was able to deliver a powerful and gripping performance that added depth to the film. Her ability to navigate such a demanding scene is a testament to her professionalism and dedication as an actress.

The film has garnered a massive following, and her performance as Gcinile has been widely celebrated. For Vilane, the overwhelming love and support from viewers feels like the reward for years of hard work and perseverance.

“I feel like God has answered my prayers,” she says. “Seeing how much people love the film and my character motivates me to keep pushing forward. It’s been a breakthrough moment for me, and I’m so grateful for the opportunity to share this story with the world.”

Vilane’s success is not only a personal triumph but also an inspiration to aspiring actors across Eswatini.

“To all the aspiring actors out there,” Vilane advises, “be patient and work hard. Success doesn’t come overnight, and the journey isn’t always easy, but it’s worth it. Take acting classes to improve your skills, stay dedicated to your craft, and most importantly, trust God. With faith and perseverance, you can achieve your dreams.”

Vilane is not just a rising star, she’s a symbol of hope, resilience, and the boundless possibilities that come with hard work and faith.
