MATSAPHA The Government of Eswatini today commemorated World Children’s Day 2025 at Esibayeni Lodge in Matsapha, bringing together national leaders, development partners and children under the theme “My Day, My Rights: From Promises to Action” in an event aimed at turning policy commitments into tangible action that improves the daily lives of every child in the country.

Deputy Prime Minister Senator Thulisile Dladla, Minister of Education and Training Honourable Owen Nxumalo, UNICEF Resident Representative Amina Mahommed, World Vision National Director Amos Zaindi, development partners, civil society organisations and other key stakeholders joined learners from Sigombeni Pre School, Swazi National High School, Sifundzani Primary School and Ezulwini Community Primary School, among others, as they participated in performances, dialogues and educational activities aimed at promoting and protecting the rights of children.

Deputy Prime Minister Senator Thulisile Dladla said the day served as a reminder of the country’s shared responsibility to protect, nurture and empower children, emphasising that every single child has a place in Eswatini. She expressed appreciation to government ministries, development partners and civil society organisations for their continued efforts in improving the welfare of children and further acknowledged learners who represented the country at the Sub Regional World Children’s Day Commemoration in Gaborone.

The DPM highlighted that while Eswatini has made progress in expanding access to education, strengthening child protection systems and promoting inclusive participation, challenges such as poverty, disability, violence, neglect and gaps in service delivery continue to affect many children. She stressed that children are active citizens whose voices must be heard and respected, calling for stronger coordination, effective implementation of policies and strategic investment in child welfare.

Minister of Education and Training Honourable Owen Nxumalo and other stakeholders echoed the message that the rights of children must move beyond promises to real action, ensuring that no child is left behind regardless of background or circumstance.
