LOBAMBA– Government has allocated the Ministry of Agriculture E2.2 billion, reinforcing its role as a short-term economic driver.
E57 million has been allocated for national vaccination to combat Foot and Mouth Disease, alongside E15 million for cordon fence rehabilitation.
The Mpakeni Dam project receives E1.6 billion this year and has surpassed 44 percent completion. “This is the largest single investment Government has made in a multi-stage agricultural project,” the Minister stated.
SAPEMP, valued at E851 million, will uplift 19 600 households and create at least 7 500 jobs.
The Hamba Ubuye Revolving Fund supported 402 farmers, producing 7 634 metric tons of maize. Government procured maize at E6 000–E6 300 per ton, strengthening farmer incomes.
“These achievements reflect Government’s vision and disciplined execution,” the Minister of Finance Neal Rijkenberg said.
