MATSAPHA– His Majesty’s Correctional Services (HMCS) committed the upcoming Correctional Services Day celebrations to God during a special prayer service held on June 17,2026 at the Staff College in Matsapha.
The service brought together members of the Executive Command, senior officers, parade participants and other staff members as the institution sought divine guidance, protection and success ahead of Friday’s national celebration.
Deputy Commissioner General Bongani Khumalo commended officers for their commitment and hard work in ensuring that preparations for the event were completed within the limited timeframe. He encouraged members of the organisation to remain united and continue relying on God’s mercy and guidance as they prepare for the commemoration.
Khumalo further expressed appreciation to the various teams involved in preparations, including commanders on parade, the Guard of Honour, cultural groups and support personnel whose contributions will be vital to the success of the event. He also thanked Reverend J.S. Msane of Ezulwini Evangelical Church for accepting the invitation to lead the prayer service and minister the word of God.
In his welcome remarks, Deputy Commandant Senior Assistant Commissioner Kenneth Dlamini acknowledged the dedication displayed by officers throughout the preparations.
“The parade has done its part. We now leave everything to God. We pray and hope that He will bless us ahead of this special day,” said Dlamini.
Parade Commander Assistant Commissioner Sabelo Dlamini also thanked officers for the spirit of cooperation that characterised the planning process, rehearsals, displays and cultural performances.
“We appreciate the collaboration and assistance from the Executive Command, senior officers and everybody involved. We thank God for bringing us this far and call upon all officers to continue demonstrating agape love as we look forward to Friday’s event,” he said.
Delivering the sermon under the theme “Sin Blocks Our Prayers”, Reverend Msane drew his message from Isaiah 59 and urged officers to uphold integrity, righteousness and humility in both their personal and professional lives. He emphasised that a close relationship with God strengthens both individuals and institutions.
Special prayers were offered for His Majesty King Mswati III, Her Majesty Indlovukazi, the leadership of the Kingdom of Eswatini, the HMCS Commissioner General and all correctional officers. Prayers were also made for the protection, safety and wellbeing of officers on parade and all staff members participating in the celebrations.
This year’s Correctional Services Day will be held on Friday at the Staff College under the theme: “Forty Years on The Throne: Advancing Rehabilitation and Institutional Excellence Under His Majesty’s Leadership.”
The prayer service concluded with renewed hope and confidence among officers as they look forward to celebrating four decades of His Majesty King Mswati III’s reign and HMCS’ continued commitment to rehabilitation, professional excellence and service to the nation.
