PIGGS PEAK– A new movement aimed at tackling Gender-Based Violence (GBV) by addressing the emotional struggles faced by men is gaining momentum in Piggs Peak.

The Lisango Movement, officially launched on June 6, 2026, seeks to create a safe and supportive space where men can openly talk about the challenges affecting their lives, relationships and mental wellbeing without fear of judgment.

The initiative meets every first week of the month at Gobolondlo Hall in Piggs Peak**, bringing men together to share their experiences, vent their frustrations and seek guidance on issues they may otherwise keep bottled up.

Founder Muzi Nxumalo said the movement was born out of a desire to help men deal with their struggles before they escalate into conflict and, in some cases, violence within relationships.

Nxumalo, a former employee of the Eswatini Electricity Company (EEC)**, said his own experiences with mental health challenges during his working years helped him understand the importance of having a safe environment where men can speak about what they are going through.

He said men often carry emotional burdens silently, something that can affect how they relate to their partners, children, families and communities. Through Lisango, Nxumalo wants men to regain their sense of dignity, strengthen their emotional wellbeing and become better leaders within their homes.

The movement also seeks to challenge the perception that seeking help is a sign of weakness. Instead, it encourages men to recognise that speaking out, asking for help and addressing emotional challenges can be important steps towards becoming healthier individuals and responsible partners and fathers.

The response from men in Piggs Peak has reportedly been encouraging, with the growing turnout demonstrating that there is a genuine need for spaces where men can speak openly about their struggles.

Nxumalo said the attendance gives hope that men are beginning to acknowledge the challenges they face and are willing to seek help rather than allowing unresolved emotions to negatively affect their relationships.

Beyond Piggs Peak, the founder hopes to see Lisango expand into neighbouring communities, creating a wider network of support for men and contributing to efforts to reduce relationship-related violence and the tragic loss of lives.

The movement comes at a time when communities continue to grapple with Gender-Based Violence, highlighting the need for interventions that engage both women and men in addressing the root causes of violence.

For Lisango, the message is simple: men also need a place to speak, be heard and heal.

By giving men a platform to confront their struggles before they turn into anger, violence or despair, the movement hopes to contribute to healthier relationships, stronger families and safer communities.

Nxumalo believes that helping men regain their dignity and emotional strength can ultimately help them lead their homes more effectively and become positive role models in their communities.

As Lisango continues its monthly gatherings at Gobolondlo Hall, its founders hope that the movement will grow beyond Piggs Peak and open more doors for men across Eswatini to speak up, seek help and choose healing over violence.
