MBABANE — Inhlonhla Managing Director Advocate Mbuso Nhlanhla Simelane has been appointed Chairperson of the Governing Board of the International Convention Centre (ICC) Ezulwini Palazzo, in a key leadership move aimed at strengthening governance and accelerating the performance of one of Eswatini’s flagship tourism and conferencing assets.
The appointment was officially announced by Minister of Tourism and Environmental Affairs Jane Mkhonta-Simelane following Cabinet approval at Hilton Garden Inn Mbabane on June 25, 2026, where Government confirmed the new leadership structure for the national convention centre.
The Governing Board brings together a high-level mix of royalty, legal minds, governance professionals, and private sector expertise. It includes HRH Prince Saziwengaye, Dr Celucolo Peter Dludlu, Samukelisiwe Mpimbili-Dlamini, Malangeni Henry Mhlabane, Lindiwe Gwebu, and Sifiso Crispin Dlamini.
Government has tasked the Board with strengthening oversight, safeguarding public investment, and driving the transformation of the ICC Ezulwini Palazzo into a competitive Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions (MICE) facility capable of attracting high-value international events and expanding Eswatini’s global tourism footprint.
The appointment comes as Eswatini intensifies efforts to position tourism and infrastructure development as key pillars of economic diversification. The ICC Ezulwini Palazzo is expected to serve as a central anchor in that strategy, supporting growth in hospitality, business tourism, and related small enterprise activity.
As Chairperson, Advocate Simelane is expected to lead the Board with a focus on governance discipline, operational efficiency, and measurable economic impact.
“We are humbled by the trust that Government has placed in us. We accept this responsibility with the utmost seriousness and commitment to integrity, accountability and results,” he said.
He added that the Board’s priority will be to strengthen the ICC’s competitiveness and ensure it delivers tangible national value through job creation, enterprise growth, and increased investor confidence.
The inclusion of senior professionals and royal representation on the Board is expected to reinforce institutional credibility and improve confidence in the management of the strategic national asset.
The ICC Ezulwini Palazzo remains one of Eswatini’s most significant infrastructure investments, with growing potential to position the Kingdom as a regional hub for conferencing, diplomacy, and international business events.
