KHOLWANE– Inkhosikati Make LaMatsebula has reminded civil servants to serve emaSwati with dignity and care, while also urging stronger action against corruption that delays development and deprives communities of vital services.
Speaking during the 2026 Autism Challenges Hiking event held in Kholwane on Saturday, Inkhosikati reminded civil servants that they are employed to serve emaSwati and must always prioritise the needs of the public.
“Government employees must remember that they are here to serve the nation. People pay tax, and that is what enables them to receive salaries,” she said.
She stressed that respect must be shown to all citizens, especially elderly people seeking assistance in government offices.
Inkhosikati expressed concern that some public servants neglect citizens while focusing on their mobile phones during working hours.
“It is painful to see an elderly person sitting waiting for help while a young officer is busy on the phone and not assisting them. That should not happen,” she said.
She said such behaviour delays service delivery and affects citizens who depend on government support for essential services.
Inkhosikati Make LaMatsebula also raised concern over corruption, saying it prevents resources meant for development from reaching the people.
She said it was discouraging to see efforts by His Majesty King Mswati III to improve the lives of emaSwati being undermined by individuals who misuse or divert public resources.
Inkhosikati said corruption delayed development and often resulted in projects being started but never completed, depriving communities of the benefits they deserved.
She encouraged emaSwati to speak out against wrongdoing instead of remaining silent, saying accountability was essential for national progress.
On youth unemployment , she raised concern saying a lot need to be done to ensure qualified young people were given fair opportunities at home instead of being forced to seek work abroad.
She also urged parents to raise children with strong values rooted in faith, discipline and responsibility.
Inkhosikati Make LaMatsebula remarks reinforced her longstanding call for integrity in public service. In 2025, she also strongly spoke out against the theft and mismanagement of medicines in public health facilities, calling for tougher action against corruption to protect the welfare of emaSwati.
