MBABANE – The Instacash FA Cup to be played in 60 communities around the country will also assist the police in fighting gangsterism which is on the rise in the country.

Instacash has partnered with the Royal Eswatini Police Service (REPS) in the fight against gangsterism especially among the youth. Instacash will visit 60 communities around the country in August, September and October, where football tournaments will be played with lucrative prizes to be won.

REPS has partnered with Instacash in the tournament to be played in all the four regions being Hhohho, Lubombo, Shiselweni and Manzini. REPS was also present during the launch of the tournament on Tuesday at the Eswatini Football association (EFA) Headquarters, Sigwaca House, Mbabane where E231 000 was announced as the sponsorship for the tournament under the Hhohho Regional Football Association (HRFA).

Manzini Police Officer Samkeliso Msweli, who was requested to make some remarks concerning the partnership with Instacash into this endeavour, said gangsterism was on the rise in the country and it was greatly affecting the youth.

He said this bad behaviour was on the rise even at primary school level and it was time to start fighting it jointly with the communities at the earliest stage. He said this behaviour was at times hard even for parents to take notice of it.

“Gangsterism is like a region and those who are in charge calling themselves bosses are taking in charge of the youth and controlling them to behave in a bad way that is no acceptable in the communities. All they want is to cause chaos wherever they are,” he said.

He said there is a need for the youth to be capacitated on this behaviour and Instacash have availed the opportunity as the football tournaments will be dominated by the youth and be played almost all over the country. He said the gangsterism included the gang formations, which identified themselves using numbers such as 28, 27 and 26 among others.

Msweli said the first behaviour to see gangsterism in arrogance and attitude.

Instacash Managing Director Mandla ‘Cheeks’ Nxumalo said were have to have partners including REPS as that will benefit the communities.
