MBABANE – International football player Mxolisi Mkhonto is eyeing double trophies with his side, Jwaneng Galaxy.

They are still in contention of the Botswana FNB Premiership as they are trailing Gaborone United on goal difference, both having 75 points with three games remaining. They face Township Rollers tomorrow (Wednesday, May 14, 2025) at their home ground, Galaxy Stadium, kick-off 3pm.

On Saturday, (May 17, 2025) they are heading for their biggest clash against Gaborone United in what is set to be a decider of their championships. The winner between the two sides is likely to confirm who is crowned the champion.

Mkhonto’s side also set for a semi-final clash in the Orange FA Cup. They reached the semi-finals stage after beating Sua Flamingoes 2-1 in the quarter-final match played on Saturday.

Mkhontfo signed for the Botswana from Green Mamba in 2023 and he is working under former National team, Coach Pieter de Jongh.

Meanwhile, the team is also celebrating 757 days without a loss at home. They last lost a match at home two years ago.

“Two years. 27 days unbeaten. Our home isn’t just a stadium it’s a fortress. For two years and 27 days, no one has left here victorious but us. Fuelled by passion, pride, and the roar of our faithful, we are the fearless force of nature. This is more than a record. It’s a statement. And we’re not done yet,” reads a statement from the club.

Mkhonto is set to join Zambia’s Zesco United defender Lindo Mkhonto who was part of the team that was crowned champions of the ABSA Cup on Saturday while they are also contesting for the Zambia Super League title.
