MBABANE – His Majesty King Mswati III has received gifts valued at approximately E17 million as part of the ongoing Incwala traditional ceremony, a significant cultural event in the Kingdom of Eswatini.
The contributions, known as tetfulo (gifts), were presented on Wednesday, 24 December 2025, at the Ngabezweni Royal Residence.
The gifts were presented by various stakeholders, including government institutions, the corporate sector, traditional structures, and members of the public, all of whom gathered in large numbers to demonstrate their loyalty and support for the monarchy. The offerings symbolised unity, respect, and commitment to preserving Swazi culture and tradition.
The contributions included livestock, cash, groceries, and a variety of agricultural produce such as fruits and vegetables. Clothing items were also presented, particularly those to be worn by Ingaja when officially commissioned by His Majesty to cut Lusekwane, a key ritual that marks the commencement of the Main Incwala ceremony. In addition, tents, chairs, and lighting equipment were donated to support the smooth running of the festivities.
The Little Incwala (Incwala Lencane) was observed on Wednesday at both the Ngabezweni and Ludzidzini Royal Residences. During this important stage of the ceremony, Her Majesty the Indlovukazi led various regiments, including Lacwebetelako, Lutsango, Ingaja, and Imbali, as part of the traditional rites that precede the main event, which is also expected to draw scores of tourists to observe it.
The Incwala ceremony, which began on Saturday, 21 December 2025, continues to draw participation from Emaswati across the country. It remains one of the most significant cultural events in the Kingdom, symbolising unity, renewal, and the enduring bond between the monarch and the nation.
As preparations continue toward the Main Incwala, the strong show of support from the nation reflects deep respect for tradition and reinforces the cultural values that define Eswatini’s identity.
