MBABANE – Kusekhaya Cycling Club are celebrating their dominance in the junior’s category in the Siphofaneni’s Darkton Daybreak Road Race.
The race was held on Saturday at Siphofaneni and it was the kick-off of the 2025 cycling season. The race was hosted by Darkton Cycling Club. Despite the rain, the event drew a strong turnout, with Kusekhaya Cycling Club dominating the junior categories.

Sakhelo Mamba claimed victory in the 45km race, while Thobekile Dlamini took first place in the 30km Men’s event.
“Today (April 5, 2025), our young riders delivered an outstanding performance, proof of their hard-work and dedication. We’re committed to nurturing these talents, ensuring they progress to higher competitive levels. Their success today shows that their training is paying off and we believe this is where future elite cyclists are made,” said Mduduzi Kaudi, team Principal of Kusekhaya Cycling Club.

The club’s success didn’t end there, Thandeka Vilane secured third place in the 45km Women’s race, while Thabile Ndlovu earned third in the 30km event.
Kaudi added that known for its strong presence in local cycling; Kusekhaya Cycling Club boasts one of the largest memberships in the Kingdom and consistently fields big teams at major races, including MTN Khemani, Nedbank Eswatini’s Imvelo MTB Classic, and Mormond Stix MTB.

At this year’s Darkton Daybreak, the club was represented by 20 riders.
“With the road season opener behind them, attention now shifts to mountain biking (MTB), as the next three races, Swazi Reserves, Enjabulweni, and Sisekelo, take place in May,” concluded Kaudi.
