MBABANE– Eswatini’s music golden girl, Lady Sphesh, has once again cemented her place as a force to be reckoned with on the African continent after bagging two prestigious accolades at the Zikomo Awards 2025.
The songstress, whose real name is Siphesihle Shongwe, was crowned the Best Zikomo Female Artist of the Year 2025 (Southern Africa) and further secured her status as a continental leader by winning the Best MVAA Young Achiever of the Year 2025. These honors recognize individuals for their positive contributions in music, film, and philanthropy across Africa and the Caribbean.
This latest victory follows closely on the heels of her historic success in West Africa. Lady Sphesh made international headlines by winning the Best Young Achiever Award at the 2025 Musicvideoafrica Awards (MVAA), held at the Oriental Hotel in Lagos, Nigeria.
This accolade not only celebrates her exceptional talent but also underscores the growing recognition of Eswatini’s music scene on an international level. Winning in Nigeria has positioned her as a beacon of inspiration for aspiring artists in her home country and across the continent, serving as a reminder that dreams can be realized through hard work and dedication.
Lady Sphesh’s recent triumphs are the result of years of dedication. Long-time followers of her career will recall her early days as an R&B stylist and her time as a finalist in the MTN Bushfire Firefly Top 10 in both 2019 and 2022.
Her transition into the Afro-House and Amapiano space proved to be a masterstroke. Earlier successes, such as the hit collaboration ‘Amagugu’ with South African artist Rambo S, introduced her to the mass market. However, it was her recent collaborations and high-energy performances that paved the way for her current dominance.
