MANZINI – Poetry lovers are in for a treat this December as two of Eswatini’s rising stars, Poetess Landa and Poetess Mvelo, prepare to headline the much-anticipated Poetry in Comfort showcase.
The event will take place on December 6, 2025, at the Manzini Liberty Community Centre, promising an evening of lyrical brilliance, inspiration, and empowerment.
Yolanda Claudia Shabangu, known on stage as Poetess Landa, has carved her place as a captivating wordsmith. Originally from Nkomanzi, she discovered her passion for poetry at the age of 14, drawing inspiration from her late mother. Landa seamlessly weaves together Siswati, English, and IsiZulu in her performances, using language as a bridge to connect diverse audiences. A familiar voice on radio platforms like Ligwalagwala FM, she has touched many with her poignant storytelling and heartfelt delivery.
In a field often dominated by men, Landa has stood tall as a beacon of creativity and resilience, using her artistry to empower and uplift. Her work is celebrated not only for its depth but also for its ability to spark reflection and emotional connection.
Sharing the spotlight will be Poetess Mvelo, a fresh yet powerful voice in Eswatini’s poetry landscape. Mvelo first gained recognition when she won the Talent Search Show last year, impressing judges and audiences alike with her unforgettable verses. Now stepping onto the Poetry in Comfort stage for her official debut, she brings words that embody victory, healing, and hope. Her unique ability to turn poetry into medicine for the soul has quickly positioned her as a promising force in the art form.
The showcase will not only feature these two stars but also host a lineup of emerging and established talents, creating a magical atmosphere of words and rhythm.
Project Manager Mnqobi Tsabedze highlighted the vision behind the initiative, saying:
“Our goal is to create lasting memories for attendees by offering an intimate and luxurious experience. Poetry in Comfort is about bringing the community together to celebrate the power of words.”
Tickets are priced at E100, making the event both accessible and unmissable. With a dynamic lineup and a vision to inspire, Poetry in Comfort is set to be more than just a show — it’s a movement celebrating storytelling, empowerment, and artistic expression.
