MBABANE – The Eswatini Investment Promotion Authority (EIPA) is once again rolling out the red carpet for local creatives, offering a golden opportunity to showcase their talents on an international stage.
Applications are now open for Eswatini businesses in the creative sector to exhibit their products at the prestigious Designed Giftionery Expo 2025 in Taipei, Taiwan.
Scheduled for April 17-20, 2025, the expo promises to be a hub of innovation and creativity, attracting buyers, distributors, and collaborators from across Asia and beyond. The application deadline is February 5, 2025, and forms can be conveniently accessed via the link provided by EIPA: Apply Here.
Unlocking Global Markets
According to Thandeka Dlamini, Manager of External Trade Promotion at EIPA, this initiative is more than just an exhibition; it’s a launchpad for Eswatini’s creative industry. “We are thrilled to announce the opening of applications for the Designed Giftionery Trade Show. This is a prime opportunity for Eswatini’s export-ready businesses in gifting, stationery, handicrafts, beauty, wellness, and other creative sectors to access the Asian market,” said Dlamini.
In a boost for participants, costs associated with the event, including booth setup, travel arrangements, and onsite assistance, will be subsidized by the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) and facilitated by EIPA.
Expanded Trade Horizons
The Economic Cooperation Agreement (ECA) between Eswatini and Taiwan has opened new doors for local exporters, with 46 additional product lines enjoying reduced tariffs as of January 2024. This brings the total to 199 products eligible for export to Taiwan under preferential terms, creating a fertile ground for trade growth.
Dlamini emphasized the expo’s significance in connecting Eswatini businesses with global markets. “This platform allows our local businesses to pitch and market their products to a global audience, fostering partnerships and driving export growth. The Asian market presents immense opportunities, and we encourage businesses to leverage this chance,” she noted.
Creativity Meets Strategy
To maximize the potential of this opportunity, EIPA advises businesses to diversify their product offerings and conduct thorough market research. “We urge applicants to think creatively and align their products with market demand. Traders can reach out to EIPA for guidance and support during the application process,” added Dlamini.
How to Apply
Applications are open to all creative industry traders ready to export. Forms are accessible online through EIPA’s website and social media platforms, including LinkedIn, Facebook, and Instagram.
