MANZINI – With the countdown to Luju Festival 2026 underway, organisers are encouraging festivalgoers to embrace creativity and self-expression through fashion as part of this year’s “Kwasukasukela (Once Upon A Time)” theme.
The festival, set to take place on 1–2 August 2026 at House On Fire in Eswatini, is inviting attendees to view their festival wardrobe as more than just clothing, but as a form of storytelling.
Through the theme, festivalgoers are encouraged to create two different looks for the two-day experience, with each outfit representing a unique chapter of their personal story.
Organisers explained that “Kwasukasukela” is not about wearing a costume, but rather about interpretation and allowing individuals to bring their own narratives to life through fashion.
Attendees can draw inspiration from various sources, including African royalty, freedom fighters, folklore, family heritage, mythical creatures, childhood stories and imagined African futures. The theme encourages people to explore their identity and creativity through elements such as colour, textures, silhouettes, beadwork, prints and handcrafted details.
“Two days. Two looks. Endless storytelling throughout the weekend,” organisers said, highlighting the opportunity for guests to transform their festival experience through fashion.
The initiative reflects Luju Festival’s continued celebration of African culture, creativity and individuality, creating a space where music, food, fashion and storytelling come together.
