MALKERNS– Organisers of the Standard Bank Luju Food & Lifestyle Festival have officially unveiled the fashion theme for the 2026 edition, inviting creatives, designers and festivalgoers to take a journey through time under the banner “Kwasukasukela” (Once Upon a Time).
The announcement sets the tone for one of Eswatini’s most anticipated lifestyle events, scheduled for August 1-2, 2026, with the theme encouraging attendees to celebrate storytelling, heritage and imagination through fashion.
Luju Festival has built a reputation for transforming fashion into a cultural experience, where festivalgoers embrace bold, creative and often thought-provoking interpretations of the annual theme. This year’s concept appears to draw inspiration from African history, folklore and traditional narratives, blending the past with contemporary fashion trends.
The promotional campaign features striking imagery of models dressed in artistic garments that reflect a fusion of indigenous aesthetics and futuristic design. The visual presentation aligns with the festival’s broader theme of “A Return to the African Future,” a concept that encourages Africans to celebrate their roots while reimagining the continent’s future through creativity and innovation.
Fashion enthusiasts are expected to begin preparations months ahead of the festival, with designers, stylists and cultural creatives likely to interpret the theme in unique ways. From traditional attire reimagined through modern craftsmanship to fantasy-inspired creations rooted in African storytelling, the possibilities are vast.
Beyond fashion, the Luju Food & Lifestyle Festival continues to position itself as a premier celebration of food, music, art and culture, attracting visitors from across Southern Africa and beyond. The annual event serves as a platform for local entrepreneurs, artists and performers to showcase their talents while promoting Eswatini’s rich cultural identity.
As anticipation builds towards August, organisers are encouraging attendees to embrace the spirit of “Kwasukasukela” and use fashion as a medium to tell stories, honour traditions and celebrate the beauty of African creativity.
The countdown to Luju Festival 2026 has officially begun.
