MANZINI – Making money is not difficult if people focus on it, surround themselves with successful entrepreneurs and learn from those who have already achieved financial success, Minister of Information, Communications and Technology Savannah Maziya.
Speaking of Saturday June 13,2026 during a business empowerment gathering hosted by FEA Zakhele, the Minister urged church members and aspiring entrepreneurs to adopt a growth mindset and take advantage of opportunities to learn from successful businesspeople.
“Making money is not difficult if you focus on it. You have to find a community of those who have made it and stick around them and learn how they have done it,” said Maziya.
Her remarks reinforced a message she has repeatedly shared with young people, entrepreneurs and business groups across the country that financial success is built on learning how to make money, grow money and keep money.
The minister said wealth creation requires people to move beyond merely earning a salary and begin building businesses, investing and creating value for others.
She encouraged church members to embrace entrepreneurship, saying businesses remain the foundation of economic growth and job creation in Eswatini.
The Minister further challenged believers to reject the misconception that Christianity and business success are incompatible.
In a move aimed at strengthening entrepreneurship within the church, the minister contributed E5,000 towards the establishment of a business support fund and encouraged church leadership to open an organisational account that would assist members pursuing business opportunities.
“I would like to encourage the pastor to open a fund that would be able to support church businesses, and I will open the fund with E5 000,” she said.
The minister has consistently promoted what she calls the “big issue about money” philosophy, arguing that true financial freedom depends on mastering three key principles.
The first is learning how to make money through hard work, innovation and solving problems. The second is growing money through entrepreneurship, investment and long-term planning. The third is keeping money through financial discipline, saving and preparing for the future.
Maziya has repeatedly warned that spending an entire salary without saving or investing is “a highway to trouble”, urging emaSwati to focus on building sustainable wealth instead of seeking temporary social approval.
Also speaking at the event, Minister of Commerce, Industry and Trade Mancoba Khumalo said government was continuing efforts to simplify business start-up processes to enable more emaSwati to participate in the economy.
He encouraged participants to learn from successful entrepreneurs within the church and broader business community.
FEA Zakhele Local Pastor Reverend L.S. Msibi urged Christians to embrace entrepreneurship, saying God did not intend for believers to live in poverty.
“It is not God’s plan for believers to live in poverty. Having a business brings dignity and respect. We want Christians to own businesses and make a positive impact in society,” said Msibi.
The event highlighted the growing role of churches in promoting entrepreneurship and financial empowerment while encouraging believers to use business as a tool for transforming communities and strengthening the national economy.
