MANZINI –  Residents, business representatives and stakeholders braved the cold on Sunday morning to participate in the Manzini Regional Day Business Walk, officially marking this year’s Regional Day programme ahead of the main celebrations on 1 August.

The 11.3 kilometre walk started at 7am from Mahhala Complex and concluded at Malkerns, bringing together participants from across the region in an initiative aimed at promoting wellness, networking and community engagement.

Addressing participants during the event, Manzini Regional Administrator Chief Gija thanked those who turned up despite the chilly weather, saying their support demonstrated the strong community spirit that continues to define the annual Regional Day celebrations.

He also acknowledged the Royal Eswatini Police Service for ensuring the safety of participants and managing traffic along the route, noting that their presence contributed to the smooth running of the event.

Chief Gija said the Business Walk marked the beginning of a week-long programme running from 26 July to 1 August, with activities designed to celebrate the region’s achievements while creating opportunities for local businesses, artists and entrepreneurs.

He said this year’s programme is intended to provide a platform for local creatives to showcase their talents through live performances, while entrepreneurs and businesses will have an opportunity to exhibit their products and services. According to the Regional Administrator, investing in local talent remains one of the key objectives of the celebrations.

The programme also features entertainment activities, including the After Dark event, which is expected to bring together local artists and regional performers ahead of the main Regional Day celebrations.

The week will culminate in the Manzini Regional Day celebrations on 1 August, where the region is expected to showcase its cultural heritage, development initiatives and economic potential through exhibitions, performances and community activities.

The annual celebrations have become an important platform for promoting regional development while strengthening partnerships between government, businesses and the wider community.
