MANZINI – For drivers, taxi operators and pedestrians in Manzini, the daily struggle of navigating worn-out and congested roads is slowly easing, as ongoing rehabilitation works begin to reshape some of the city’s busiest routes.

From early morning commutes to late afternoon traffic, roads like Nkhoseluhlaza Street and Ngwane Street have long carried the weight of the city’s movement. Today, visible improvements are offering relief and renewed confidence to those who rely on them every day.

The project, led by the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, focuses on restoring key urban corridors that connect traffic into and out of the city, making movement safer and more efficient.

According to information sourced from the Ministry of Public Works and Transport Facebook page, the rehabilitation programme is part of efforts to improve road infrastructure and enhance mobility for all road users. The Ministry stated that both Nkhoseluhlaza Street and Ngwane Street are undergoing comprehensive rehabilitation works, with steady progress being recorded.

For many residents, the changes are already noticeable. Smoother surfaces, clearer lanes and improved flow are beginning to reduce travel stress, while also protecting vehicles from damage caused by poor road conditions.

The Ministry further stated that works have now extended to the Central Distributor Road, where a key section from the Manzini Central Intersection to the Mavuso Trade and Exhibition Centre has been successfully resurfaced, marking another step forward in the project.

In acknowledging the progress, the Ministry stated that the contractor, AG Thomas, has shown strong commitment to delivering the work efficiently while maintaining high standards and minimising disruption to daily life.

The Ministry has urged the public to remain patient and follow traffic management instructions in active construction zones, noting that the improvements are being carried out in the interest of a safer and more modern Manzini.

As the city’s roads continue to transform, the impact is being felt beyond infrastructure, bringing comfort, ease and a sense of progress to the people who use them every day.
