MANZINI- The Manzini/Matsapha Zonal Pool League is gaining remarkable momentum, thanks largely to the substantial investment from Sphana Investments which has injected a whopping E110 000 into the league. This financial boost is being hailed as a turning point for pool sport in Eswatini, with Matsebula a league spokesperson stating that “such investments are radically growing the sport nationwide and are leading to it being taken more seriously both by players and fans.”
The ongoing league action saw Manzini Pool Club (MPC) reinforce their dominance with a commanding 13-6 bonus point victory over Ludzeludze Lions. This result solidifies MPC’s position at the summit of the standings with 29 points. Close on their heels is the Give Thanks Pool Team, who secured a 13-8 win against Manzini Masters but dropped a crucial bonus point leaving them with 27 points in second place.
In third place REPS Pool Team enjoyed a confident 13-5 bonus point win against Zakhele Potters, boosting their tally to 23 points. The league’s two ERS teams however remain anchored at the bottom of the table each with just 7 points, showing the competitive nature of the tournament.
Matsebula emphasized that “the league’s growing profile and financial backing demonstrate pool’s potential to be a sustainable source of income and a serious sport in Eswatini”. As the league races toward its conclusion, the competition is intensifying promising thrilling matches and further growth for pool enthusiasts and players alike.
The Manzini/Matsapha Zonal pool league energized by Sphana Investments’ sponsorship is poised to become a flagship sporting event, reflecting the evolving landscape of local sports sponsorship and talent development.
